SEO for photographers

Beautiful work deserves to be found first.

We put photographers at the top of Google and inside the answers AI search gives, so the couples, families and brands already looking for someone like you land on your website instead of somebody else’s.

The quiet problem

A portfolio nobody finds is an expensive hobby.

You spent months on the brand. You paid for the site. The galleries are the best work of your career. And the enquiries still arrive in ones and twos, mostly from Instagram, mostly price shopping.

Meanwhile the photographer two suburbs over, whose work you would never hang on a wall, is booked eighteen months out. The difference is almost never talent. It is that when someone types the search that matters, Google has a reason to show them and no reason to show you.

Search is the only channel where the client is already asking to hire you.

What we do

Six disciplines, built around how photographers are actually hired.

All services
01

Local SEO that owns your city

Ranking for “wedding photographer in your city” is the whole game. We build the location pages, the map pack signals and the citations that put you above the studios who have been there for years.

Explore
02

Venue and keyword strategy

Every venue you shoot is a keyword nobody else has claimed properly. We map the venues, seasons and styles your ideal client actually types, then turn each one into a page that ranks.

03

Blogging that earns its keep

Not diary posts. Real, searchable galleries and guides structured so Google understands them, indexes them fast and sends you enquiries months after you hit publish.

Explore
04

Image and speed SEO

Your site is heavier than almost any other kind of website on the internet. We compress, rename, caption and lazy load until your galleries load fast and every frame is readable to search engines.

Explore
05

Google Business Profile

The map pack sends ready to book enquiries. We optimise the profile, the categories, the photo cadence and the reviews so you appear in the three results people actually call.

Explore
06

Visibility in AI search

Couples now ask ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews who to hire. We structure your site so the engines can quote you by name, with the schema and entity signals that get you cited.

The approach

Four stages. No mystery, no monthly report you cannot read.

01

The audit

We pull apart your site, your rankings and the three photographers currently beating you. You get a plain English document showing exactly where the traffic is leaking and what is worth fixing first. No jargon, no 90 page PDF nobody reads.

02

The strategy

We map every keyword worth owning: your city, your suburbs, the venues you love, the styles you shoot, the questions your clients ask before they enquire. That becomes a page by page plan with a running order.

03

The build

We write and publish the pages, fix the technical debt, compress the galleries, tighten the internal links and set up the schema. You keep shooting. We handle the search side of the business.

04

The compounding

Rankings move, enquiries arrive, and we report on both every month in language you can act on. Then we go again, because the photographer who publishes consistently is the one who wins the city.

Results

Three numbers, reported in this order.

How we measure
The leading indicatorRankings

Positions for the terms that actually carry booking intent, tracked weekly, city by city and venue by venue. This moves first, usually well before the phone does.

The number that pays youEnquiries

Forms, calls and emails attributed back to organic search and your Google Business Profile, so you can see which pages are earning their place.

The only real scoreboardBookings

Traffic is vanity if it never signs a contract. We tie enquiries through to booked work so you know the return, not just the reach.

Who we help

Every genre searches differently.

A newborn photographer and a commercial photographer are not competing for the same words, the same intent or the same season. We build to the genre, never to a template.

Working together

What the engagement actually feels like.

You keep shooting

You are a photographer, not a content team. We write the pages, fix the technical work and publish. Your involvement is a short monthly call and the occasional gallery we ask you for.

Everything in plain English

No dashboards full of metrics nobody acts on. Each month you get what moved, what we did, what we are doing next and what it means for your bookings.

No lock in

Month to month after the initial strategy work. SEO takes time to compound and we will tell you so honestly, but staying should be your choice every month, not a contract’s.

Questions

The things photographers ask us first.

How long does SEO take for a photography website?

Most photography sites show early movement in 8 to 12 weeks and meaningful enquiry growth between month 4 and month 9. Photography is a local, seasonal market, so the honest answer depends on your city, how competitive it is and how much authority your site already has.

Booking cycles matter too. A couple searching today may be booking 14 months out, so the enquiries that arrive in month five are often for a season that is still a year away.

Do I need to blog for SEO to work?

You need published pages, but they do not have to be diary style blog posts. Venue guides, real galleries with proper write ups, location pages and answers to the questions clients ask before they enquire all do the same job better. We plan the running order and, on most engagements, write them for you.

My website is on Showit or Squarespace. Is that a problem?

No. We work across Showit, Squarespace, WordPress, Pixieset and Format. Each has its own quirks, particularly around page speed and how galleries are rendered, and we handle those rather than pushing you into a rebuild you did not ask for.

Will image heavy galleries slow my site down too much to rank?

They will if nobody manages them, and this is the single most common technical problem we find on photography websites. Correct sizing, modern formats, lazy loading and a sensible number of images per page usually take a gallery page from several seconds to under two, which both Google and your visitors notice.

How is this different from a general SEO agency?

A general agency has to learn your industry on your budget. We already know what a venue page is worth, why the shoulder season matters, how couples actually phrase a search and why a portfolio site needs a different technical approach to a shop. Nothing here is a template borrowed from a plumber campaign.

Can you get me into ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews?

Increasingly, yes, and it is now part of every engagement. AI answers are assembled from sources the engines trust and can parse, so the work is structured content, clean schema, consistent business information and genuine mentions elsewhere on the web. The same foundations that win rankings win citations.
