Real estate photography

SEO for real estate photographers who want repeat agent work.

A volume business where one won client books fifty times a year. The search terms are narrow, the competition is thin and the lifetime value of a single ranking is unusually high.

The market

You are not winning shoots. You are winning accounts.

Real estate photography is structurally different from every other genre here. A wedding client books once. A family books annually. An estate agent books weekly, sometimes several times a week, for years.

That completely changes the economics of SEO. A single first page ranking that wins three agency accounts can be worth more than a hundred consumer enquiries, and the search volume required to achieve it is comparatively tiny.

Who is searching, and how

  • Estate and letting agents searching city plus service, usually after being let down by their current supplier or when opening a new branch
  • Private sellers going to market themselves, lower value but higher volume
  • Landlords and short let hosts, particularly for Airbnb and holiday rental listings, which is a fast growing and often neglected segment
  • Property developers and architects, which overlaps into higher value architectural work
  • Deliverable specific searches: floor plans, virtual tours, drone photography, twilight shots, video walkthroughs, EPC and measurement services

Bundling is the whole commercial strategy

Agents overwhelmingly prefer one supplier for photography, floor plans, video and drone rather than coordinating four. Every one of those is a separate search term, and each deserves its own page. Ranking for “floor plan service” and converting that into a full photography account is one of the most reliable patterns in this genre.

Turnaround time is your ranking message

Agents care about next day delivery more than artistry, because a listing that goes live two days late costs them money. Turnaround times, booking systems and reliability belong prominently on the page. It is genuinely what the buyer is evaluating.

Volume pricing needs to be visible

Per property pricing and volume tiers should be published. Agents are comparing cost per listing across suppliers and will not email for a quote when a competitor has published theirs.

One agency account can be worth fifty consumer enquiries. The search volume needed to win it is a fraction of that.

Questions

Questions photographers ask us.

Is there enough search volume to bother?

Volume is low compared to consumer genres, often only fifty to three hundred searches a month for a city term. It does not matter. The value per conversion is so high, and the competition so thin, that the return per ranking is among the best in photography.

Should I target agents or private sellers?

Agents, for recurring revenue, with private sellers as useful additional volume. Build the site primarily to convince a branch manager you are reliable, then let private seller traffic fill the gaps in the diary.

Do I need separate pages for drone and floor plans?

Yes. They are distinct searches, often made by people who do not yet know they need photography too. They are frequently the cheapest route into an account.

How competitive is this compared to weddings?

Far less, in most markets substantially so. Many real estate photographers rely entirely on existing agent relationships and do almost nothing online, which leaves the search results open to anyone prepared to build a proper site.
