What we do

Six disciplines that decide whether you get booked.

Photography SEO is not one job. It is a local visibility problem, a content problem, a technical problem and, increasingly, an AI citation problem. Here is how we work on each, and how they compound when they run together.

Most photographers who come to us have already tried something. A web designer who mentioned SEO in the proposal. A course bought in January and abandoned by March. An agency that sent a plugin report and a monthly invoice.

The reason none of it moved the needle is almost always the same: the work was done in isolation. Location pages with no technical foundation underneath them do not rank. A fast site with no pages worth ranking has nothing to show. A perfect Google Business Profile pointing at a website that takes nine seconds to load just sends people away faster.

These six disciplines are sequenced deliberately. We rarely run all of them from day one. We start where the constraint actually is, prove movement, then widen.

The disciplines

Where the work happens.

01

Local SEO for photographers

Ranking for the city and suburb searches that carry real booking intent, plus the map pack work that puts you in the three results people phone. The single highest leverage discipline for most studios.

02

Keyword and venue strategy

Every venue you shoot is a search term almost nobody has claimed properly. We map venues, seasons, styles and the questions asked before an enquiry, then turn them into a page by page plan.

03

Blogging that ranks

Structured galleries, venue guides and genuinely useful answers, published in a running order, built so Google can understand and index them. Not diary posts nobody searches for.

04

Image and speed SEO

Photography sites are the heaviest on the web. Compression, modern formats, correct dimensions, descriptive filenames, alt text and lazy loading, so galleries load fast and every frame is readable.

05

Google Business Profile

Categories, services, geotagged photo cadence, review velocity and the local citations that make the map pack believe you are the obvious choice in your area.

06

Visibility in AI search

Clients now ask ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews who to hire. We structure your site with the schema and entity signals that let those engines quote you by name.

Sequence

How the six fit together.

01

We find the constraint first

There is always one thing holding a site back more than the rest. Sometimes it is a five second load time. Sometimes there is simply no page on the site targeting the term that matters. We audit before we sell you a retainer, and occasionally that audit says you do not need us yet.

02

We fix the foundation before we add content

Publishing onto a broken site is pouring water into a bucket with a hole in it. Technical work, indexation and speed come first, because everything after that compounds off them.

03

We build the pages that carry intent

City pages, venue pages, service pages and the answers people search before hiring. Written properly, not spun, because near duplicate location pages are a liability now rather than a shortcut.

04

We widen once something is working

Once a cluster is ranking and converting, we replicate the pattern into the next city, the next venue group, the next genre. Growth in this industry is a repeated pattern, not a single big idea.

Questions

Questions photographers ask us.

Do I have to buy all six?

No, and most people should not. A typical first engagement is the audit plus two or three disciplines, usually local SEO, keyword strategy and the technical or image work. We add the rest when there is a reason to, not to inflate a retainer.

Which one matters most if I can only do one thing?

For almost every photographer with a physical service area, it is local SEO combined with the Google Business Profile work. That is where the highest intent searches happen, and it is usually the fastest to show movement. If you are a commercial or brand photographer selling nationally, keyword strategy and content come first instead.

Can you work with my existing web designer?

Yes, and we prefer it when you have a designer you trust. We give them a specific list rather than vague advice, and we handle anything they would rather not touch. We are not trying to sell you a rebuild.

What if my site is brand new with no traffic at all?

That is a fine place to start and in some ways easier, because there is no legacy mess to undo. Expect a longer runway before meaningful enquiry volume, because a new domain has no authority yet. We will be straight with you about that timeline before you commit.
